Values are those things that really matter to each of us ... the ideas and beliefs we hold as special, not something you want or would like to have.
Caring for others, for example, is a value; so is the freedom to express our opinions.

A value is a principle desirable to you. Values are personal. They are your convictions, your beliefs, and your ethics rolled into one.

Living in agreement with one's values is fulfilling. Living in conflict with one's values is stressful and dissatisfying. That's why it is so important to clearly understand your own personal code of values; your happiness depends upon not only knowing your values, but living in accordance with them.

Be Stress Free

Stress does not result from hard work, long hours, or multiple roles in life. Stress results from values conflicts. When put in a situation where you are unable to honor a value, you will feel stressed out. No amount of relaxation, meditation, or exercise will eliminate the stress until the values conflict is resolved.

Living Your Purpose
Why is it important to understand your own personal values? Values are linked to purpose in life. You might say that your purpose is to live your values. When you do, life is good.

You're absolutely right Christine in your perception of the origins of stress. You hit the nail on the head that stress is a product of conflicting values.

Guide To Life For Women Author - TR Hughes said...

I think some people forget their personal values while traveling the road of life and begin to live a life out of balance, by accident I think...just getting caught up in the mundane. Losing sight of what is important and valuable to you as a person will eventually manifest itself through the stress effects of living out of harmony with yourself. Staying on track with your true life purpose is what keeps us sane. Thanks for sharing your uplifting thoughts. We could all use more of that everyday.

Hello TR Hughes :) So profoundly said.

I feel values are so important because they fundamentally shape our relationships, our behaviors, our choices, and who we are. So, without knowing what our values are, it is actually impossible to create the lives we want because there is no foundation to build them on. Many can't understand why they do not reach certain goals as they dream. Likewise, some reach goals yet still feel empty and unfilled. Why is that? I believe it is because they have made goals based on outer appearances, what others what from them or what they think they want or should want for themselves. The goals in essence do not match with what the heart desires.

As TR Hughs so Eloquently said, "Do Not Lose Sight"

Thank you so much for sharing!
Cheers & Hugs!
